My nephews and their cousins had their first flag football game today. It was a perfect way to begin the new season, (FOOTBALL season and that much anticipated FALL season I've been yearning for). The air was crisp, the sky was gray and the boys had their mouth guards in, ready to go! It was so funny- they were all sucking on them like lollipops. I think they thought they were more "cool" than necessary for protection of their precious couple of permanent teeth that could be knocked out. My nephew Jace is four- too young to play on the team, so he began as sort of a mascot. After his brother got his uniform and all the hype of the new season began, Jace was quite confused... "But where is MY you-knee-foam (that's uniform, in 4 year old terms), DAD?" Well the little guy was so adamant on playing with the big boys, that there was nothing more to do then give in. To keep Jace's confidence up, he's thrown in the game for a couple seconds here and there.. When you take him out- he's not very happy. Watch out! You may be looking at the next Brett Favre!
